Museum of History and Industry

The Museum of History and Industry re-imagined itself after sixty years, moving to an historical naval armory building in Seattle’s newly energized South Lake Union neighborhood. MOHAI leadership wanted a new retail experience to reflect the region’s place at the intersection of innovation, international relationships, regional history, politics and environment.

The store had to be moveable for events, reflect an innovative sense of design and integrate well with the industrial lakeshore environment of the neighborhood. We provided store and fixture design services in collaboration with LMN Architects, revenue and budget projections, daily retail operations consulting, buying and new manager training. The MOHAI Store showcases local artists, small companies and innovative products that express MOHAI’s mission and enhance visitors’ experience.

Miriam created a vision for a flexible, moveable retail store that both expanded and sustained our capacity at a time when we were very busy figuring out how to build and operate a new museum. We couldn’t have opened our innovative store, which gets rave reviews and earns significant revenue, without her. Miriam is a lifesaver.
